Hi, I am using Google Nexus 4 (LG) for the past few months and I haven't been able to figure out a way to delete multiple contacts at once. All it allows me is to select a contact, click on menu and then delete it? Is this the only way?

A convenient way I found was to go to the Web version of Gmail and delete/update my contacts/lists there and then sync it up to my phone- but I couldn't find an easier way to do it just using the phone.

If they don't have a way then it'd be a shame since thats like one of the basic features in phones in the last 5 yrs or so.

You're unable to do it with the Nexus 4. Not sure if it's a JB thing or a Google thing.

Just because you can't do it on stock, doesn't mean it can't be done, it is Android after all - there's an App for that!
Try "EX Dialer & Contacts"--> https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...details?id=com.modoohut.dialer&token=qcrLZbpa

Personally I prefer not being able to though, that way if I accidentally delete a Contact it's less to need to remember as it'll be just one.

You can also do it via Contacts.Google.com if you really need it & don't want to use a 3rd-party App.

Thanks a lot Lanhoj, for that piece of information. I will try that app out and post my review of how effective it is (for the functionality I am looking for)

I face the same issue. I couldnt figure out exdialer option that allows "select all" and "delete" options for contacts (people tab). Does one require the Pro version? I downloaded the free version - trial for 7 days. Please suggest. Thanks.

Just found what I needed, albeit a different app - FANTASTIC. Its called "Super Backup : SMS & Contacts"
It provides a simple option "Delete All Contacts."

Now, I am ready to import contacts afresh.

I just went to Google Contacts online and did this a few months ago. I wanted to delete everything and then import them once again from a .csv file. It worked and the contacts were instantly deleted from my Nexus 4. Once I imported the new contacts file, all of them were pushed to my phone. Was easy to do.

Go to "People" Apps in the Apps menu. You will see your list of contacts. If you see multiple names for the same contact i.e. A and A', go inside A & click the 3 dots at top. It gives an option of "Join" multiple contacts. You can merge them & it is pretty simple.
Took some time to figure out that though.

I've found that my gmail account is the problem. It stores the mobile numbers as home numbers with different space separation. If you go to contacts and turn off gmail synchronisation you then obtain only the VCF card information that was originally on your SIM. Its a bit annoying that they don't run a reg-exp string comparison over the numbers when presenting them. This would solve the problem.

nah.. its not a bug neither anything like that... its just google that wants to have a registry of your contacts (in case you already decide not to sync it) they force you making any modification like multiple selecting/moving/deleting "only" available over internet...

a subjet alrerady mastered 15years ago when the pda or electronic organizer without OS already had options for selecting multiple contacts and now small devices with 4 cores in the CPU can't do that?
Please.
